Each year in Term 3 students from The Bidgee School participate in lessons at Airborne Gymnastics.
Gymnastics is one of the most fundamental and exciting of all physical activities.
Basic gymnastic skills develop attributes that are perfect stepping-stones for other sports and activities involving flexibility, balance, strength and agility.
Through proper instruction, children enrolled in gymnastic programs demonstrate progress in a number of key development areas.
Gymnastics gives the student the opportunity to actively use all major muscle groups in a limited space of time with the use of circuits involving sprinting, jumping, landing, climbing, hanging, static balance. This also allows for the student to understand strengths and weaknesses they may have and then set about improving on them.
Learning to cooperate with others working in a group situation respecting other people and encouraging others.
Listening skills plays a major part in gymnastics for safety and learning outcomes, it is essential all students are listening at all times
During the program student get the opportunity to use all the apparatus such as the floor mats, beams, trampoline, rings, bars and the rock climbing wall.
This program is subsidised by the school.
We recommend that sports uniformshould be worn to gymnastics (shorts, tracksuit pants, school polo shirt). Once at the venue students are required to remove their shoes and socks. Long hair should be safely tied back (preferably in a low ponytail).
