Intervention

Counsellor

Aaron is at the school on Fridays. Our school counsellor is trained to help students and their parents deal with problems that are causing concern. Students may approach her directly or through their teacher or the principal.

The counsellor may also refer students to other sources of help when necessary.

Please telephone the school to make a mutually convenient appointment to see the counsellor.

Occupational Therapist

Nadine is at the school every Tuesday.

Speech Therapist

Kate is at the school on Thursdays. The speech pathologist works with the classroom teachers and support staff to develop the students’ speech, language (ability to understand language and express themselves), communication, and literacy skills. The individual difficulties of each student are identified and they are supported to develop skills and strategies that will help them maximise their ability to access the curriculum, grow academically and achieve their personal goals. Depending on the needs of the student, support is provided either in-class, one-on-one, or in a small group.

Intensive Learning Support - Literacy and Numeracy Intervention Programs

Each term or semester, a number of students are selected for intensive learning support in the areas of Literacy and Numeracy. The aim of these programs is to address any gaps and help boost students' skills, abilities and confidence in these important areas. The students participate in small group or one-on-one intensive sessions three or four times a week, where we specifically target gaps with explicit teaching and and skill building activities. Carla is our Interventionist and works Monday - Thursday.
